Deliverance is a boys own classic, one that I had never had the opportunity to see before last night. How can I describe it succinctly? I would say that is the archetype of the late 70's / early 80's action adventure film, but one that others are measured against. It's the film that a lot of people associate with Burt Reynolds, though his performance doesn't go much beyond handsome and strapping. It also features an infamous rape scene.
On to The Squid and The Whale, which was by far my favourite of the two films. I used to be a very typical young man film watcher. Dredging the Hollywood actioner as my own and loving every minute. As I have matured though I find myself shying away from Hollywood and embracing films like The Squid and The Whale. It is simply an acting master class supported by a first rate script. What happens in the film? Nothing much above a glorified soap. But if soaps were like this, I'd be a fan.

It's live-cd based on an openSUSE engine worked like a charm, the install however isn't for the dual booting faint hearted. If you want to resize partitions to create space for the install, hold on to your pants. I ended up exiting the installer and manually creating space before going back for the install itself. Which ran very smoothly.
However it does partion its free space in an awkward layout, I haven't looked too deeply tonight but I will!
I have left the KDE 4 install for this blog post anyway as I have no internet access out of the box with my wireless which is a black mark to start with. I'll update more as I use it more in the week.

Or La Vie en rose. Another one of my Oscar catch up films. This one was definitely better than Clayton, simply because of Cotillard's performance. The film as a whole does a fine job except at the end, when it draws itself out for a little too long. Definately one to watch if you are into foreign language films, and even if you are not.

Considering this laptop, the Dell xps M1330, can be bought with Ubuntu preinstalled direct from Dell, as expected, the webcam works out of the box driver wise. Software? Well Ubuntu 7.10's repo's include a program called 'cheese' which picks up the cam straight away and allows recording of video and photo taking. The other option is downloading Skype 2 Beta for Linux which also runs the cam 'out of the box'.
